Anyone ever been alligator hunting?

I want to go alligator hunting for my birthday next year and I was wondering if anyone has gone and if so where they went. Thanks!

Be safe PFC Mullins when you do this. I will ask one of my NCOs since he hunts wildlife game all the time. I'm not sure if he has hunted alligator but he has on just about every other animal. Likely you need to go to southern states to do this. Have you watched swamp people on TV? They hunt for alligators during the summers and it's interesting on how they do it.

My NCO who hunts just goes here on Ft Benning at a few local places. I told him you were at Bragg and he wasn't sure about how far up north alligators would be living in swamps. He didn't have a particular place out of Georgia that he could recommend for alligators besides FL, GA, or LA. He did say to talk to an expert before doing this because of the dangers of first time alligator hunters.

Worked a project in FL, south end of lake okechobee(sic). Took awhile to find any Gaters. Driving around looking in ditches & waterways. Just photo hunting though.
Plenty of offers to go out on the lake to view, bait, or hunt them.
A few offered to go by jet ski, not too keen on gater hunting, at night, in bare feet inches off the waterline, & an open swim ramp behind my butt.
Had a GSgt. who brought some gater tail back after leave.
Very good BBQ/Grilled steak!
I believe Louisiana & Mississippi have good gater trips & hunting.
