Anyone Ever Do a Reenactment?

I was invited to take part in the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg last year and it was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life! Not only did my history itch get scratched but I got to see Napoleonic Warfare first hand. It was AWESOME! Anyone else do reenactments? Post a pic and tell a story if you have!

Definitely a fun event and if a unit has the opportunity they should go out and do one for an OPD or NCOPD event.

In Vandalia, IL we have a small Civil War reenactment that is put on to go along with the Lincoln Heritage Festival we do every year now.

A friend of mine is trying to get me involved with the Civil War, he is a retired FA Officer (Red Leg) and now is a Corporal (Red Leg) in the reenactments. I tease him about being demoted and degraded in equipment!!!! :-)

Oct 11/12 we are getting ready to host our 2nd Annual Armed Forces Tribute-Reenactment weekend.

We have static displays, vendors, 2 reenactments per day and so forth. The reenactments will be WWII and Vietnam....

Yes, but not in the conventional sense. A bunch of my dancer friends and I participated in a WW2 style Hanger Dance in San Marcos, TX sponsored by the Confederate Air Force a while back. They had a bunch of old warbirds (to include a B-17G) and a big band that did the WW2 Glenn Miller thing (dressed in USAAF uniforms). We came dressed in vintage WW2 Army uniforms, while some of the girls came in vintage dresses and hair-do's. We danced with a lot of the old WW2 vets who came to see the show. We even did a mock brawl with other dancers who came dressed in zoot suits.

Sir I never done one, but I seen it done every year, Upstate Plattsburgh, NY. In actual locations were the fighting took place. By the way I also been to Gettysburg in my younger years. Very nice looking place.

Never done one but watched a small one in Oregon of all places. My wife, daughter, and I got to walk around both camps and speak to the actors. The Union Army gave me a Yankee Salute and Hip, hip, hooray speech. The Rebel actors thanked me for my service and showed me their way of living back then. Great day for what it was worth. I would like to go to a large reenactment someday like Gettysburg or some other one.
