I’m registered to compete in the Elementary Level Excellence in Competition Pistol match. It looks like fun and I get to shoot someone else’s ammo! Anyone have experience with Army competing in an AF event?

The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) coordinates the big matches (National Match at Camp Perry), both Active Duty and the Army Reserve have competitive shooting teams that put on events throughout the year. I have participated in two matches this year (Midwest Small Arms Championship as well as Army Reserve Small Arms Championship) and had a great time and got some really good instruction from the shooting team members.
Once you earn "leg points" in a EIC match you will be awarded your Bronze EIC Badge (Pistol or Rifle). Once you get 20 points you get Silver. 30 points gets you Distinguished status which is what everyone is trying to get to.
The Army Reserve Marksmanship team has a FB page where they post information on upcoming matches (U.S. Army Reserve Competitive Marksmanship Program).

Update: I placed in the top 10% of the field and earned my leg points and the bronze EIC badge. Two questions for the field; 1. where can I find more matches and 2. should I buck the system and wear the shooting badge as an officer?
