Referred to ortho now, but have heard and read of lots of people getting MEB/PEB after surgery, just trying to find out if anyone has been retained after surgery. I still got 10 years and not trying to get out yet. Anyone had surgery for a labral tear in their hip? What effect will it have on my retention? 2017-06-29T07:52:58-04:00 SSG Private RallyPoint Member 2687183

Just had a MRI done and it came back that I have a labral tear in my hip. I've seen one surgeon who got decent results from that surgery in the last 18 years. Can you give more specifics on how (or it) you sustained an injury or did you just have a gradual onset of pain? Are you in the pipeline and can you perform your duties? Thanks for that info though Sir.

Currently in the pipeline for 37F, graduate in a month. I can and will be able to do all mos specific requirements, not sure how jumping will go but I'm sure I can manage it. Originally I tweeted it on a jump and has gradually gotten to where it is now. Not much pain running but any cuts or anything is pretty bad. Have the infamous "popping" in the hip and have very limited mobility. I had been doing physical therapy for a month (they thought it was arthritis) and was having no progress, so got a MRI and found out about the tear and they referred me to ortho. So have to schedule an appointment with them off base. After reading your comments seems like I should just stick to PT for as long as possible.

My only concern with not getting it repaired is what the long term effects could be. Like I had said, I still have 10 years and want to finish it out.
