Anyone have any experience with a STAB board?

I just got an NCOER corrected from 2008.  The Army Board of Corrections says that I can request a STAB for every year since that NCOER to see if I would have been picked up for SFC with the correct NCOER in my record.

I've only known of one. It was successful, but slow.

Google "STAB board". Two of the links are from HRC and include samples and references.

From what I've heard, they are fair and impartial. Plus any bitter leadership can't input a derog letter to stop one.

Any results if positive will include backdating rank and pay.

SFC Sewell is spot on with the guidance straight out of the REG.  I assisted a NCO with his STAB Request a while back.  The REG is straightforward and should be used as your guide.  Request assistance from your 1SG, CSM and S1.  They will ensure that you "dress right dress" and have everything that you need.  Good luck.

Wow SSG Burns well I hope mines go through I was screwed on my COR for PSG. Its still back and forth with the NCOER its been 4 months.

The chances of being promoted off of a STAB depend highly on your MOS. I will give you an example:

This past MSG Board 200 people were selected for promotion to MSG in the 91 series. For whatever reasons, 9 of them have fallen off the list (nobody has been promoted), and we are down to 191. So when the STAB convenes, they (HRC) are looking to re-fill those 9 slots. If 9 or less people in the 91 Series qualify and apply for the STAB their promotion potential by that board is 100%.

I have known two to apply, and two got promoted to SFC via STAB and they were 11Bs.

EDIT* This is my understanding of how the STAB works from what I was told about 6-7 years ago by a very knowledgeable CSM.

My NCOER has been overdue for the last three months and is still not done, because of a succession of failures of my rating chain and errors it was not submitted in time for the MSG Promotion Board. It was cut short by three months because of a deployment so the S1 should have been tracking it but didn't. The board used the previous years NCOER which was a year not much went on. This past year alot went on and I was really glad because it was going to be my first shot at MSG. I used my chain of command to no avail and spoke to the CSM and he told me that I didn't have grounds for a Stab, the IG and JAG saw it differently, by regulation I have been dealt an injustice because of negligence. i have submitted a "Commander Inquiry" as per the regulation before any other action can be taken. it give the Commander a chance to fix the problem. I no action is taken within 30 days then the IG Complaint goes forward and somehow the JAG gets involved. I really didn't want to go this route but what else was I supposed to do. Anyone have any insight into this situation?

I was selected for promotion in March of 2013. My sequence number would have had me promoted in December of 2013. I had a long process of fighting some false allegations and clearing my name and cleaning up my record over the last 2 and a half years. My file was submitted to the centralized MSG promotion board that convened in March of this year (2016). I am wondering how I find out what the decision was. I understand that my chain of command receives notification. I am wondering if the decision made reflects on my ERB or anywhere else in my file that I am able to see?

I recently submitted a STAB and I made sure that I read AR 600-8-19, paragraphs 4-13, 4-15, 4-17 and tables 4-3 and 4-4.The information there are very useful. I found out that it might take 120 days until the Board convenes as well.
