Off base there are places around in Lakewood, Tacoma, etc. Just depends.<br /><br />For on base sometimes there&#39;s a wait list - it just depends what you need or are looking for. But the junior enlisted family housing doesn&#39;t sound like it&#39;s worth the BAH honestly. Not from what I&#39;ve heard - and on base they take all the BAH. I was stationed at Fort Lewis and had to wait 18 months for a house to open up on post. My wife, kids and I rented a house in Lacey and I commuted -- I also ended up taking a second job to pay the electric bill -- Puget Power was extortionate back then. I had a very understanding CO and an equally understanding manager at Hawk&#39;s Prarie McDonald&#39;s.<br />When we finally got on post I was only there 6 months before I PCS&#39;d overseas. <br />Fun.
