You mean off-post or lower post?Response by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 10 at 2019 9:17 PM2019-12-10T21:17:22-05:002019-12-10T21:17:22-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member5332472

Well on base you're only going to get housing if you have dependents as a SPC. Off base there are places around in Lakewood, Tacoma, etc. Just depends.

For on base sometimes there's a wait list - it just depends what you need or are looking for. But the junior enlisted family housing doesn't sound like it's worth the BAH honestly. Not from what I've heard - and on base they take all the BAH.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 11 at 2019 12:32 PM2019-12-11T12:32:54-05:002019-12-11T12:32:54-05:00SSG Dale London5337886

Yes but it was 29 years ago. I was stationed at Fort Lewis and had to wait 18 months for a house to open up on post. My wife, kids and I rented a house in Lacey and I commuted -- I also ended up taking a second job to pay the electric bill -- Puget Power was extortionate back then. I had a very understanding CO and an equally understanding manager at Hawk's Prarie McDonald's.
When we finally got on post I was only there 6 months before I PCS'd overseas.
Fun.Response by SSG Dale London made Dec 12 at 2019 8:44 PM2019-12-12T20:44:36-05:002019-12-12T20:44:36-05:002019-12-10T19:50:46-05:00
