I ended up going to a DE razor and then eventually going to a straight razor. Straight is the way to go if you don't mind the few weeks it takes to master it (or at least get good enough at it). The blades, like any razor, take some getting used to. They are a bit ridgid compared to commercial disposable razors. Th. quality does make a difference in how long the blade lasts. Overall I enjoy the value & qualit. they provide. It's convenient and the blades are pretty good. I get the 4 blade pack each month and I don't mind them. At first, took a bit of getting used to because I was using the 5 blades of awesomeness, but the 4 blades are just as good, cheap, and you get a new set every month. I hardly go through mine as fast. Like right now, I have 1 good blade left from my current set, I have a whole new set of blades I haven't opened yet and a new one coming this month. For me, it was always hard putting 25-30 bucks towards a 4 pack of blades that would last a month or so. Now, I don't have to worry. I always have clean blades. It's worth the money to me, and really really convenient. I've had it mentioned to me in passing by one person who uses it and likes it. I've been using an electric during the week for a while so haven't used enough blades to worry one way or the other. But I'm like a couple others here and have been thinking about going DE or straight. Anyone have recommendations aside from Merkur for those, and possibly Harry's? The more comparison the better. ;) Response by MSgt Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 1 at 2015 1:23 PM 2015-04-01T13:23:29-04:00 2015-04-01T13:23:29-04:00 SSG(P) Private RallyPoint Member 1383577

I am a customer. I used to use/buy Gillette Fusion Power, whose blade refills cost over $15 for 4 refills. I tried the DSC's premium razor ($9). I get a better shave, and never have to worry about running out of refill blades, because they get sent to my door regularly. My wife even caught on and got a premium shaver handle, and now we share the refills.

The Dollar Shave Club has even donated tens of thousands of razors and refills to deployed Servicemembers who did not have access to a PX/BX. That's just icing on the cake for me. Any company that supports us all like that gets my business.
