SPC Private RallyPoint Member 1438428

I am diagnosed half way through my MED board process and am trying to have it added to my 199 and VA ratings. I just got both forms back today but does anyone know how I should proceed. My lawyer only wants a written statement but I feel I need to do more then that to have it added as an unfitting condition (I feel it is). Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Anyone have Fibromyalgia and going through med board process? 2016-04-08T05:02:55-04:00 SPC Private RallyPoint Member 1438428

I am diagnosed half way through my MED board process and am trying to have it added to my 199 and VA ratings. I will try to find more specific guidance, but that is a starting point for you to find it on your own. Just because you have been diagnosed with a syndrome, does not mean you need an MEB. I have guys in my unit with missing limbs who refused MEBs or did not seek them. The doctor who evaluated for my VA claim did the evaluation for Fibromyalgia. I already have a Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Diagnosis that provides evidence for some of the symptoms, but the widespread pain is new. I'll likely file for an increase, once I get a better understanding of my symptoms. If you have a prior diagnosis that shows evidence that would help, but you likely won't be able to file for both conditions unless there's an obvious distinction between the set of symptoms.

I've heard of many people who have had to paid out of pocket to see specialists to right a statement on the condition. This might be something that will help your claim. A written statement with only your perspective doesn't hold much weight. If you have family members, friends, individuals in your unit who can attest to your condition that would probably help.

I'm not the best resource for the process, but if you ever want to talk about what's going on, feel free to send me a message.
