I just received an email from ACT saying I've been placed on assignment for Fort Polk in April 2020. I haven't even completed my 92Y reclass AIT yet... is there a way I can get that changed for KOREA? anyone I can contact?

If you're an in-service reclass, then you cannot get a different follow on assignment because you will attend school in a TDY status enroute to your next duty station. Your Career Counselor isn't authorized to request a change unless there's a valid reason. Reclass branch handles follow on assignments, your future branch manager can't change that.

If you're a prior service coming back onto active duty and are currently in IET status you can call the IET branch manager or your future branch manager.

SGT (Join to see) all day, this. Is this assignment cut against you as a reclass or as a Fire Control Specialist. Make it known to your branch manager that you WANT Korea. They will be confused at first, then they will put you on orders. I am sure there are 50 other 92Ys trying to get off orders to Korea. Should be like pushing on an open door. Also engage your chain of command to help. A call from a CSM in your MOS would likely help.

If you are in AIT currently, the assignment is based on you completing AIT hence your follow on assignment. You can try contacting Branch, but odds are they aren’t going to send you from a tier 1 assignment to another tier 1.
