Or at least they didn&#39;t when I was still in. I don&#39;t remember pictures being taken when we were advanced. Usually a pretty quick formation, names called, stepped forward and then the higher Petty Officers tacked them on! Then done. No Ceremony no paper&#39;s nothing special. So when I go back to the states again in Feb 1967 I became a corporal again that was my only Ceremony from the Battalion commander. It was much more memorable, due to the actual pins/tacks, when my ESWS was pinned on me by the division CPO and others. Is there a Group for Surface Warfare on RallyPoint? Gonna Check. When the Commander I was assigned to a Medical Bn so we had a navy commander, asked why I was sweating, when I told him he shook his head and said and you haven&#39;t broke POA! Lt Col Chapman (I believe). <br />This, 1 year after the SSgt I reported to at MCAS Cherry Point said that he would do everything in his power to see that I never made SGT.<br /><br />The great part about it was that, unknown to me, my wife sent a Christmas card to my old unit and made sure to sign it SGT and Mrs......<br /><br />I found that out when I returned to the states after my year overseas and they told me how ticked off the SSGT was.
