SPC, This may be a hard sell, and harder to get the army to go along with. Are you already at Irwin?

I can understand your situation. I've been stationed at both. I loved both locations. Everything is so far from Ft Irwin, that driving can get old very fast. You do have Las Vegas, San Diego, LA, etc. for those long weekends. Some months, I wouldn't even leave post. Was married, so I didn't mind. If you're single, that can be pretty tough. I tell people Ft Irwin is like being overseas stateside.

If not, use your time there to get ahead on schooling (make lemon aide out of lemons).

With 13 months to go in my enlistment, I attempted to trade my EM2 assignment about USCGC White Heath based in Boston with an EM2 in Sault Marie Michigan. My skipper said he would OK it just as soon as I re-upped for 6 years. I finished my enlistment in Boston.
