What happens if you fail your APFT then get a profile.

You will need to be more specific was you APFT for record? If so you will be flagged for the failure and once your profile and recovery time is over provided this is not your first you should be offered the opportunity to pass your APFT.

If you fail a record APFT, you are (supposed to be) flagged. If you get a profile after the failure, you take another record after your profile is up.

If you’re asking whether the new profile could somehow nullify the APFT, then No. If it’s a Record, then you’ll be flagged. Depending on the APFT Limitations on the profile, you may be able to take one with an alternate event. Otherwise you stay flagged until you recover and pass a Record APFT.

In a nutshell, you might have a problem.
The issue is that with the profile, you won't be able to take an APFT and lift the FLAG for failure (assuming of course the profile covers an APFT event).

You need to concentrate on healing from injury, and maintaining conditioning so that you are ready when the next record test comes around.

There are many variables, bottom line is that one is not directly related to the other. You will have to wait for your recovery period to end before taking another record APFT. The flag will not be lifted until you pass. Thank you for your service.

Your Command should give you ample time to recover from your Profile (if temporary profile). I believe the regulation states that the recovery time would be 2.5 times the length of the profile. So if your profile was for 60 days, you would have 150 days to recover & then pass your APFT after that.

You cannot be forces to violate your profile, nor take it in your recovery period. Your Command should also counsel you on your APFT failure & mandate a training plan to get you back to passing your APFT. If it's a run, make sure it says that you run at your own pace.... once you heal from your injury- to train up for the APFT.
