With this advanced technology we could do more with less or we can afford a more expensive carrier because we can protect the investment and having these advanced platform ensure our sea dominance well into the next generation. There is a quantifiable advantage to continues building and advancement just look at the space program.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1-_4tfWR4c

Raytheon - Arleigh Burke-Class Destroyers Air & Missile Defense Radar Combat Simulation [720p]

18 Oct 2013 - The U.S. Navy has chosen Raytheon to build its Air and Missile Defense Radar (AMDR), a next-generation defensive system for its Arleigh Burke-c...

Response by LCDR Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 25 at 2015 9:29 AM 2015-03-25T09:29:00-04:00 2015-03-25T09:29:00-04:00 Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS 550318

Do we as Americans have the capability to produce them?

Do we have the ability to man them?

Would having more be useful for us?

I tend to think the answer to all 3 is yes.

The actual cost isn't relevant. Carriers are amazing for global stability. They are great for world aid. There's a certain point where you have too many.. but I don't think we're there yet.
