I don't think it is a matter of control per say, I think it is more of a matter of addiction and dependency on having a "connection" with other people instead of actually interacting with them.

Our 9 yr old granddaughter is still too young for a cell phone but has been computer savvy in school for a long time. Recently when her Kindle refused to work for her, she grabbed her grandmother's IPad and in 10 minutes had googled a solution on line and had the thing fixed. I was still searching for the on/off button.
