Bernie Sanders won a fairly convincing victory last night in West Virginia. This comes on the heels of his victory in Indiana. Are Democrats really conflicted about Hillary Clinton, or will they easily unite to stop Donald Trump after their convention?

They will want to unite behind Hillary. They want things to continue or even get worse so Americans can give them more of our privacy and allow the chipping away of rights to the madness they don't really want to make better. 2 people need to stay away from the constitution, though. This is masked as progressivism.

I don't think the WV results are too meaningful in that regard. It is an open primary state where repubs and independents can vole in the democratic primary and vice versa. I saw one report that indicated that many people in their exit polls said that they planned to vote for Trump in November, even though they voted for Sanders, because they didn't feel the need to vote in the republican primary since it was locked up. Hillary has no chance of carrying WV anyway. I think the CA primary may be more indicative because both candidates will be competing more strongly in that one. Though Hillary has essentially stopped campaigning against Sanders, as she has the nomination locked up delegate wise. So she's saving her money for ads oriented towards the Nov race rather than Sanders.

SP5 Mark Kuzinski Hard to say - I know my daughters think Bernie is the guy, but when I ask them how we are going to pay for all of his wild ideas they are clueless and HRC is just a criminal in my opinion!

From what I understand younger liberal and progressive minded voters support Bernie Sanders and I expect that includes many of the Occupy Wall Street folks SP5 Mark Kuzinski.
I'm think Bernie sanders has energized many on the left to have hope in the same way that Donald Trump is bringing many people on the right to show an interest in voting for the first time or for the first time in decades.

Lots of Democrats hate Hillary but when it comes down to it almost all of them will still vote for her over Trump. There's no way he'll be able to pander to the left or even the center effectively enough to undo the image he's burned for himself which his rhetoric in the primaries.

SP5 Mark Kuzinski - Spec; Since Sen. Sanders "convincing victory" didn't change the fact that he doesn't have a hope in hell of securing enough delegates to win the Democrat's nomination, did it really matter?

The Democrats have (about 95% of the time) managed to keep their internal politicking civil and focused on real issues - the Republicans managed that about 20% of the time.

The Democrats are NOT gong to "come together to stop Trump" BUT they are going to "come together to elect Clinton". (The difference being that the first is negative motivation and the second is positive motivation.)

As of the end of April, the national polls showed that Ms. Clinton had a 54 - 41 lead on Mr. Trump (however you should take that with a bit of caution since the Electoral College vote DOES NOT necessarily reflect the "national polls" [and, in fact, it is theoretically possible to win the Electoral College vote while only obtaining around 25% of the popular vote]).

The Dems will unite to stop Trump. The Dems' one principle is to win at any cost, and they will accept anything rather than face defeat; they have no other principles or scruples that might get in the way of their winning power.

I honestly don't know. I'm not a Democrat. The Democrats I know don't know. The pollsters report that many Democrats who voted for Bernie won't vote for Hillary in the general election and that more than a few will vote for Trump. But I don't think the pollsters really know much either. Their record hasn't been too good of late, has it? I guess we'll just have to wait and see. The real question is: Why are we so impatient to know now?

Dems are totally conflicted on HRC. They are terrified of Trump though. It'll be interesting to see how that pans out in the general election. There are a lot of people on both sides of the fence that HATE their party's nominee.

I suspect this will be a good year for the Libertarian party.

I can't speak for most liberals, but for me - Trump is more scary than Clinton. Yes, she will be more of the same - politics as usual - but Trump, I fear, will turn the nation's steady decline into one of rapid decline that I'm not sure we can recover from. Clinton will maintain the status quo and we'll have another chance at a reasonable candidate in four years. I can't say the same for Trump.

No, I don't support Clinton or give her a "pass" on her email issues or other life choice. Similarly, I don't give Trump any support on his ridiculous ideas and antics. In this case, I'll take the devil I know over the devil I don't.

Wouldn't it be a shocker if all elected officials began doing what they were elected to do? With a 10% approval rating, any of the 535 would have a tough time convincing me that they have the voting citizens best interest at heart. I believe the " status quo " needs to be blown away. More of the same? I don't think so.

I am sort of a "new deal" democrat. HRC is not. I am tired of our endless wars. HRC is not. Will I vote for HRC if she gets the nomination. 100%. PLUS - probably as much $$$ as I can afford to her as well as my local democratic party. But I don't feel for a second I am voting for a Democrat. IKE, a New Dealer himself, was left of Hillary. Bernie is no more socialist than Truman was (Truman was a decorated soldier vs Bernie the "dove."). My .2¢ worth.
