Are election campaign robocalls/texts illegal?

I received an unwanted text from a hillary clinton campaign pac. My cell phone is on the Do Not Call national registry. I've filed a complaint with the FCC. I recommend everyone file a complaint if they received an unwanted text/call.

Cpl Private RallyPoint Member, most likely, the call was generated from a "list", the currency of a campaign. These get passed down from campaign to campaign by the local party. It is probable that your name and number on that list predates the national do not call registry.

I always thought it was a shame that they exempted political calls from the no call list for landlines. As for text messages, the key in the wording of the restriction is whether it is autodialed or not. Calls or text generated by autodialers are not allowed, but text sent manually by volunteers gets around that rule. The other work around is in the privacy policies of all sorts of companies you do business with. Selling lists is big business, so some companies hide in their terms and conditions the statement that you agree to allow "affiliated businesses" to call you, and then define affiliated businesses as basically anyone they sell their lists to.

No. I have received dozens of calls and around 500 emails in the last month from the trump administration. I would love to be able to be taken off whatever list they have me on.
