If there is fishing allowed on base, then there are certain rules that need to be followed. If no fishing is allowed/available on base, then it's the standard local and state rules for fishing holes Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 21 at 2023 10:11 PM 2023-11-21T22:11:39-05:00 2023-11-21T22:11:39-05:00 SSG Byron Howard Sr 8561080

Trick question. Are you fishing from a window on a guard tower.
On pass or after duty hours.
Or
I'll sneak off during the duty day and invite the first Sargent. Meade, MD and Ft. Lewis, WA. Many Installations have a MWR area you can visit to get information. A lot of places will let you fish in certain lakes on the training areas also.
What duty station are you heading to?
On a side note sometimes you get opportunity to fish place that are once in a lifetime. Like when I was able to fish in the BIAP Ponds in Iraq 2003-2004. We would run have to run people up to Brigade and Battalion for meetings all the time. If you don't have a permit then no. Installation permits are required to fish and hunt which is managed by the DPW (Directorate of Public Works) and most DPWs have a Fish and Wildlife Division. Go to your installation's home page and look for their local reg on fishing and their permitting process. The process is straightforward in my experience on every installation I have fished on. Your installation permitting process will be in accordance with federal laws and the fish/game laws of the state where the installation is located--you won't have to jump through hoops. You'll be allowed to fish at the appropriate time directly from your assigned unit while deployed at sea. And maybe the cooks, excuse me, Culinary Specialists will prepare your catch for you and the crew if it's a good catch. And if it's a bad spot to fish from don't worry, you'll be moving to another one soon haha. If it is allowed within local regulations and isn’t a work conflict why not?

Some bases have fishing availible on property just like hunting but there are generally regulations to adhere to.
