I wish the users on this site would focus on the positive to rebuild and help other people than just pointing fingers. It's that those conversing frequently descend into name calling and generalizations. Not everyone who disagrees with us is a bigot, or a buttercup, or unpatriotic. "Ad hominem" is a term with which some appear to be unfamiliar. We all want the same thing, a secure and prosperous USA. We disagree with how to get there. I do find it interesting that some post articles with which they disagree and point out the perceived flaws. Perhaps part of the fix is only posting what you agree with. Again, a tag directly related to the military would do us good as well. Most other forums have that capability. My home page feed is filled with threads I have no interest in because the algorithim has determined that somewhere someone I connected to commented in a post, or someone I am not connected to, but who shares a connection with me made a post, and so it still spams my homepage.

Likewise, most forums have an ignore feature that prevents you from seeing any posts by a user you put on ignore. The block and unfollow functions in RP do not fill the bill. If there is a poster that I feel adds nothing to the threads but trolling that ruins otherwise good discussions, why should I not be able to block his comments from appearing at all? Same if a poster continually keeps making threads and updates on topics that I have no interest in. To tell us just to skip over them misses the point. First, you have to read it before you can tell it's another undesired post. I never figured out how those people who say "just don't read it" are able to keep their eyes from taking in the words. Plus, who wants to have to continually scroll through a bunch of troll/spam looking for the nuggets of good posts?

Admins, I hope you hear the voices of so many RP users who are telling you that this current system is not working for many of us, myself included. I just about deleted my account as it has become such a pain in the ass to wade through the crap. People are accustomed to and expect certain features that allow people to tailor their forum experience in a way that maximizes their enjoyment of the site. IMO RP seems to be stubbornly refusing to give us those features that are readily available on other sites. I think this is causing many users to tire of wading through the crap and so they just stop coming at some point. And that is a shame as RP has a lot to offer. But right now it has this fatal flaw that is holding it back and keeping it from being all it can be. There are a million other things that we can discuss on this site.
