Are the American people pawns in the game of politics and division?

The devide in our society is growing wider and wider. Could this division be by design to allow for the personal gain and benefit of those in power?

We have precisely the govt we deserve. If it's divided it's because We the People are divided. Sure, there are those taking advantage of the divide but they couldn't unless We the People allow it. Looking to blame some nefarious force or group is simply a canard, a feeble attempt to avoid taking responsibility for our own mistakes. In other words, we aren't the pawns, we're the players

Yes, because Americans do not hold their news sources to any standard. Some people watch a single point of view and accept it as fact. If more Americans paid attention to independent media instead of corporate media, we'd be a lot more aware of the manipulation.

It was going back to school after 10 years that made it apparent. It is taught that white woman are a minority as they compose half of the white demographic. I asked the professor if it makes sense that according to the subject matter that I could conclude every demographic is a minority except white males. I am correct, and to consider that would show cumulatively white males are a minority in that aspect. I think this is used to help sway white voters while using white woman. Believe me I think they can live however they want. I see this as prevalent in the left and it's working for them. The idea of Hillary plays into it heavily and should be considered.

Most differently we are a divided nation because we divide ourselves. We divide ourselves class, race, social status and other matters. The people in higher spots take advantage of the divide and cause us to fight among each others even more. We allow ourselves to be taken advantage of.

The divide in our politicians comes from the cultural divide among the voters - they reflect our wishes.

This cultural divide has been with us and has been growing since the '60s when the hippies thought that they could invent a superior culture from scratch that would replace the traditional culture that had grown up over the centuries.

What they actually gave us was the drug culture, the breakdown of the family, the breakdown of law and order, the rejection of personal responsibility, and the rejection of respect for those that hold different beliefs than they do.

This was the rebirth of the liberal/progressive far left - the cultural vandals of our times.

This cultural division has been growing ever since, and our political divisions reflect that underlying cultural war.

We get the government we elect. It is the voters (we, the people) that are doing this. We have a larger and larger pool of uneducated voters thanks in part to failing public schools, dumbed down media and bumper sticker philosophy etc. etc. etc.

People are swayed by emotion and stories with grains of truth and kernels of inaccuracies. No one knows the difference because few read multiple sources, understand our history, and what actually happened a decade, a score or a century ago. We learn from our past and from our past we are able to better discern our future course.

It is easy to divide and manipulate those that do not know the truth and are unwilling to learn it. They can be swayed by almost anything. Most of the population is happy playing x-box, watching reality TV, sipping wine, attending sporting events and generally expecting the Republic to continue to provide them with the lifestyle they have become accustom to. If they don't like the lifestyle they have then they want the federal government to provide them with more "opportunity" usually disguised as an entitlement.

Only if we allow it. Our Founders constantly emphasized the need for an educated and informed electorate as much as a moral and religious people for our system to work. Divisive tactics only work among the ignorant. But ignorance can be cured with time and effort. It starts with us. I'm more worried about stupid. There are laws against the only cure for stupid.

Of course. We are all pawns, the one thing everyone underestimates however, is the power of a pawn. In the game of chess, if a one pawn gets to the far side of the board it can become any piece you so desire.

If I had to play chess without a certain type of piece, I would certainly not sacrifice my pawns. Run with this analogy as you may.

Of course, we are definitely pawns. Most of it is a distraction to be used by different candidates and different parties to drum up votes or drum up support for another term in office and another fat check to cash. It's unfortunate that most people don't see this and they'll keep the problems in office for yet another term.
