I'm married and my life would like to come with me to ABOLC. The problem is that we have two dogs, add my wife and myself, and living in Abrams hall seems non-practical.

Are there any other living options that we could consider? Are there any alternate living arrangements (to Abrams Hall) during ABOLC for NG 2LT? 2021-02-09T12:48:19-05:00 1LT Private RallyPoint Member 6732740

Does anyone know if I can get alternate housing for ABOLC as a National Guard 2LT? Military communications stress defining an acronym before it is used. Army Basic Officer Leadership Course (ABOLC). That is the example that should be used. You're not authorized to bring your dependents with you on TDY. When I was in my Officer Basic Course, I was not married but signed up & received the available family lodging building (by calling the lodging office directly) on Ft. Sill, OK. You'll have to inquire if this is available. It's probably just on a first-come first-serve basis via the lodging manager. If you look into the Joint Travel Regulations, 020303. Lodging, you can get a place for long term lodging but it has to be approved by our authorizing official. So this might be your AO in your unit. I am at MCCC and instead of getting a room on base I am living in a fully furnished 2 bedroom apartment while I am on TDY. TDY is not something that you should being trying to bring your family too technically. But if you were to procure a fully furnished apartment in Columbus the gov would be paying less than a hotel plus it is a much better experience

Also, your welcome letter would have to justify it. If your welcome letter says you have to use Gov lodging then you can't leave off post on the gov's dollar. If you’re guard then your unit is paying for the course and your lodging which will be military quarters either on post or at a hotel on post. As others said you will be TDY orders and unaccompanied. Your family will stay at your home of record and you’ll receive BAH type II for your maintenance of your home while attending BOLC.
