I can't seem to find any DS units in Minnesota. Would it even be possible for me to go the DS route without having a unit in Minnesota? Are there any Drill Sergeant units near Minnesota? If not, would it even be possible to go the DS route without having a unit in Minnesota?2019-05-12T14:26:41-04:00SSgt Private RallyPoint Member4629052<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I'm currently in the National Guard and am looking into the Reserves to become a Drill Sergeant. No one is going to send you to school and get nothing for it.Response by 1SG Frank Boynton made May 12 at 2019 2:32 PM2019-05-12T14:32:04-04:002019-05-12T14:32:04-04:00CW3 Private RallyPoint Member4629119<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So, as far as I know, the only drill sergeant slots in the guard and reserves are with the Recruit Sustainment Programs (RSP). We definitely have them here in California so I would be surprised if there weren't slots in other states. Quickest way to find out is to reach out the RSP program in your state and ask. Usually there is an application process to join an RSP unit, but once you are in, I believe DS school is an option (especially if you are in the ASI slot for it).Response by CW3 Private RallyPoint Member made May 12 at 2019 2:54 PM2019-05-12T14:54:47-04:002019-05-12T14:54:47-04:00MAJ Private RallyPoint Member4629220<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>If you're willing to commute there's nothing stopping you from joining an out of state unit. I commuted from Louisiana to Arkansas when my wife was stationed at FT. Polk. Your other option would be to try and find an RSP unit that will send you.Response by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made May 12 at 2019 3:49 PM2019-05-12T15:49:44-04:002019-05-12T15:49:44-04:00SGM Private RallyPoint Member4629966<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>If you are willing to drive to Wisconsin for drills, there are DS positions there.Response by SGM Private RallyPoint Member made May 12 at 2019 9:13 PM2019-05-12T21:13:32-04:002019-05-12T21:13:32-04:00CSM Private RallyPoint Member4631140<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>2-377th has a company of Drill Sergeants at Ft Snelling in the Minneapolis area.
