My husband just received orders for a last minute PCS change. We've been provided with a month heads up that we'll be relocated to TX. I started a new job a few months ago that offered specialty training. The training is paid for by the job but needs to be repaid if employees stay in the company for less than a year. Are there any laws in place that might protect me from having to pay this training fee back when the reason for separation from employment is military relocation?

This may or may not be covered under USAERRA since you are the dependent. Still, nothing wrong with paying a visit to the JAG office to see if they know of anything. But, part of me thinks you'd be on the hook for it as it could be seen as something akin to a sign on bonus.

Jenny Sanchez I don't know of any spousal employee protection like your asking about.
Keeping a few things in mind, you are under no obligation, not on orders to move, you are free to stay where you are at.
Your spouse...can PCS to his new duty station without you..that is a choice available to him.
That said I'm not saying the choices don't suck, just that they are real and choices.
Spouses of military members often make huge sacrifices to stay with their military spouses. But honestly, that was a reality and a well-known fact before you got married. It sucks if you did not understand that fact before you married a military member.
But now you are here.......how can you make the best of it.

Can you stay with your current company for a few more months and comply with the obligations?
Your Spouse can ask for an order deletion, but it's just an ask and a long shot..PLUS he can come down on orders days or weeks later again.

Thank you! My husband has been in the military over 8 years now so we know the drill just thought I'd ask. From what I've been told, the military does expect spouses to move for PCS. Not moving is in many cases not affordable considering he can't stay in the barracks and would have to use the bah. The alternative would be to get separate apartments in different states and pay rent on 2 places a month. To say I'm under no obligation to move is unrealistic in today's economy lol.
