My son is a 74D on active duty in the Army. His ETS from a six year enlistment is 2022. I'm in a position where can get him an AGR job through my connections. It sounds like he has no option but to wait until six months prior to his ETS to apply for one of these slots. Are there any other options to separate early to go from active duty to active guard? I may be able to influence his chain of command if there are any options outside of waiting to ETS.

Influence your son's Chain of Command for the benefit of your son? Hmm....those could be dangerous waters you are willing to wade into, Sir.

You can look at AR635-200, but no.

Nope. As enlisted, until you're on an indef reenlistment, you are committed till your ETS date.
