Are there any other resources to get my medical records from when I served in the Army from 1973 thru 1976?

I am trying to see if my minor disability received while serving qualifies me to establish SDVOSB status for my company. I am not having much success finding my medical records and was told there was a fire that impacted medical records stored during that timeframe. Are there any other sources available?

SGT Randy Rippin the fire happened in 1973. If they are blaming that for your records I'd call bullshit. Your records did not get there until 1976
Veteran Records for, the NPRC: https://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records
The fire: https://www.archives.gov/personnel-records-center/fire-1973
Who told you all this? Have you tried working with DAV?

SGT Randy Rippin - good luck. Had you ever requested VA disability in the past? If you were granted a disability rating, you can go into eBenefits and do an online request for a disability letter for employers or a general letter of compensation. No waiting. It opens up a PDF document right there. No details, just a form letter that says you have over 30% disability rating from the VA. I do t know what else it does because each eBenefits dashboard is individualized for the user when the log in. I have over 30%. This is sufficient for the purposes of proving you are a protected class of veteran.

SGT Randy Rippin - then I wonder why the VA would have your records according to the NPRC?

Colonel Mackay, These are questions unanswered since I first began this quest in May of last year. BTW the article on the fire in 1973 at NPRC was an excellent reference and backup for my pending BS claim.

SGT Randy Rippin if you have been to the VA and can't get your records you might want to contact a patient advocate at the VA, also if you are on Facebook check out a group called Veterans to Veterans there is a lot of advice and information there
