Combat arms MOSs would appear to be harder on the body with possibly more medical retirements and ETSs, but as a community they are larger with more opportunities for advancement than other MOSs. I've never seen any hard data to go one way or the other. Are there numbers out there for how different MOSs make it to retirement?

Invite others to respond by typing @name Are there demographics for retirees by MOS/branch? 2015-05-13T19:09:27-04:00 MAJ Private RallyPoint Member 665661

With the latest possible changes to military retirement, I've been in several debates lately where someone thinks a particular MOS has more or less representation at hitting the 20 year mark either by a ratio of the force or raw numbers. I don't think I've ever come across a breakdown of retirement by MOS. I will be following this thread ... thanks for posting the question! Response by GySgt Wayne A. They should give you a good idea of the rest. If you have X E9 per field, that gives you a baseline.

From there, you figure out average TIS to pick up E7 for the feeders to that E9. If it's 14 years (guess) that's one thing, if it's 18 years they have a higher chance, 12 years is lower.

As an example.. Using the USMC E7 selection board info.

http://www.marines.mil/News/Messages/MessagesDisplay/tabid/13286/Article/173193/fy15-gunnery-sergeant-selection-board.aspx

FY15 GUNNERY SERGEANT SELECTION BOARD > The Official United States Marine Corps Public Website...

R 250820Z Feb 15MARADMIN 081/15MSGID/GENADMIN/CMC WASHINGTON DC MRA MM//SUBJ/FY15 GUNNERY SERGEANT SELECTION BOARD//REF/A/MSGID:MSG/CMC/171440ZAPR2014//REF/B/MSGID:DOC/MCCDC C40 OP/25JAN2008//REF/C/MSGID:DOC/CMC,

Response by Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS made May 13 at 2015 7:18 PM 2015-05-13T19:18:04-04:00 2015-05-13T19:18:04-04:00 2015-05-13T19:09:27-04:00
