Are unit awards listed on your DD214?

If your unit received an award while you are attached, would that show up as an award on your DD214?
My unit received a VUA for Desert Storm but it was retroactively awarded after my ETS, so I'm curious - would that be on my 214 if it were awarded before I ETS'd?

Short answer is yes.
In order to have it appear on your DD 214, you'd need both the General Order awarding it to your unit and a roster or annex that shows that you were assigned during the inclusive dates.

Yes SGT Richard H. I have my VUA x2 but I had them added to my records prior to my retirement. You have to follow the instructions for getting them added post 214 issue. You will need documentation showing prof of your UIC (Unit Identification Code?) showing that you were assigned during the award issuance.

SGT Richard Hanner, I had to add two awards after retirement, 1) MSM and 1) MUC. I filled out a DD 149 (Application for Correction of Military Records). A DD215, AUG 2009 was sent to me listing the awards and correcting the original DD 214.

My 2, PUC and MUC, were added to my ERB prior to my retirement so that when it was time for my DD-214, they were already there. If they were not added prior to your getting out, you will have to go through the process of getting your DD-214 amended to have them added.

Unit awards are a disaster to track. Human resource command is supposed to manage the website but it is a mess and almost impossible to search. There is no search engine

Yes. Moreover, if you want it documented officially now, you can request a DD215. You’ll need to submit proof that you were assigned to the unit when the award was issued, such as orders, OERs/NCOERs, etc.

Unit awards should be on your DD-214. The problem is that they are often awarded years after the fact. See if you can get a DD-215 with the VUA on it.

If you can get the order Number's from your old unit that would be the best way to look them up.
If not then you almost have to go thur the Mipers messages' to find them not fun.
Hopefully you know someone thatt recived the orders and you have a copy of the orders putting you with the unit at the time and place.
Then fill out the DD149 inorder to get a updated DD214 or a DD215

They don't update DD214s but they may issue a change document (I think it's a DD215) but if you have the unit orders it really doesn't matter because you're not in any more. Though I do understand the feeling of knowing your records are correct.
