You have to follow the instructions for getting them added post 214 issue. You will need documentation showing prof of your UIC (Unit Identification Code?) showing that you were assigned during the award issuance. I filled out a DD 149 (Application for Correction of Military Records). A DD215, AUG 2009 was sent to me listing the awards and correcting the original DD 214. If they were not added prior to your getting out, you will have to go through the process of getting your DD-214 amended to have them added. The problem is that they are often awarded years after the fact. See if you can get a DD-215 with the VUA on it. Though I do understand the feeling of knowing your records are correct.
