Disagreements between Democracy and Communism aside, our economies are both too intertwined and until we can be dependent from one another completely, conflict would cause too much collateral damage on both sides and most likely lead to a collapse of both nations. It may be egocentric sounding but the world needs the USA to be around. When our economy tanks the world's follows. Our rate of consumption keeps the international economy alive. China is s growing threat. We have war plans. What we need is a president and civilian/military leaders with the will to stand up to China. Increasingly China views the U.S. as weak and indecisive. That's going to mean saber rattling on occasion and some pretty interesting espionage cases. The USN is currently doing intentional and rather flagrant incursions into this new space to make a point. I think we're a long way off from an actual conflict with them though. SGT Jeremiah B. Tension in the East China Sea over the Spratley Islands, relations with Taiwan, etc go back decades. There are periodic exercises in the region, observation of the area ... and there are "most likely" current and developing OPLANS CONPLANS, etc., within PACOM. LTC Stephen F. Now indirect conflict with us supporting one force and China supporting another has been happening for quite some time in multiple areas. Africa, and the Middle East come to mind. We know China if friendly with several nations in Africa and recently signed an agreement to open a port in Pakistan, but wait wasn't Pakistan an ally of ours? An ally of convenience, until the checks stop coming. CW3 Kevin Storm Thu, 25 Jun 2015 18:10:56 -0400 2015-06-25T18:10:56-04:00 2013-12-13T17:36:36-05:00
