Are you allowed to wear pieces of your old uniform in public (such as the blouse with the patches on it) after you ETS?

I've been out for 2 years and I'm just curious if you're allowed to wear the blouse (as a casual jacket) with civilian attire under it. I thought I remembered hearing about a reg that didn't allow this

About the only regs out there refer to uniform wear at official functions when retired. Otherwise you're hearing crickets. So there isn't anything direct that says you can't. Even so, who'd spend the resources hunting that down. Hell, stolen valor Alpha Hotels are protected under the free speech thing. I'd just recommend you consider the why piece. If it is so others can stroke your ego, then it isn't a good idea. If it's to honor those you lost on Vets or Memorial Day, great. Your decision is time limited as the uniform item will "shrink" over time.

Honestly, who cares? You earned it, and paid for it. Wear it with pride.

SPC Ian Satchmo, I can't give you an official answer regarding the wear of patches on the shirt after ETS. I personally never wore components of the uniform after I retired. I do know that if all patches are off (to include rank, nametapes, and U.S. Army tapes), it's just another shirt.
