In the future ask them first, because little shit like this is what gets young soldiers in trouble, because you dont always get the correct answer, and if you get the wrong one and you are questioned where you got your wrong answer from not a good place to say you got it from. All the above withstanding why have you not been told the answer after all the briefings and demob crap that you go thru when returning from deployment cause all the ones I did that was stated many times, just saying MSG Private RallyPoint Member Sun, 05 Jan 2020 17:09:50 -0500 2020-01-05T17:09:50-05:00 Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 5 at 2020 8:34 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/are-you-considered-a-veteran-once-you-return-home-from-an-overseas-deployment-for-nine-months-with-the-national-guard?n=5416965&urlhash=5416965 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Yes. If so then YES you are a veteran and nothing says you must serve any specific status for time other than qualify for the listed above. Way to often we get to many people trying to take the status away from those who serve. A veteran is a veteran of any branch the Combat Veteran is exactly that veteran of a combat deployment. I get so tired of seeing so called experts quote status but fail to have any clue what the DOMJ says and US Dept of Veteran Affairs. Case in point I know one vet who received an injury in basic who gets 20% and filed the claim 5 years after discharge. Tell me after basic and AIT they get discharged for a foot problem and get 20% they are not a Veteran. It’s so stupid we have to ask this question this is a failure in leadership for not informing you that YES you are a veteran!!!!!
