I completed my final paper this past Sunday for my last class for my Bachelor's Degree. I took my fist college class back in 1991 when I was a young PFC in Hohenfels, Germany. It took almost 25 years for me to accomplish this goal. This was a personal goal of mine that I am glad that I have finally achieved.

For those out there who are not yet committed to furthering their education, I challenge you to buckle down and go see your Education Counselor. Seeking education for self-development will help set yourself apart from your peers, it will provide you promotion points, and it will also set you up for future successes as you move along in your career.

Go see your Education Counselor. The hardest class you will take is your first one.

Congratulations on persevering! I overlooked many opportunities to further my education at a much younger age, to my regret. However, now that I've completed my masters degree I am not inclined to enter the workforce and deal with the stressors that a younger person would be forced to endure if they want to have a career. I am opting for self-employment, on my terms, and my education will be a definite asset towards that end.

Great job! I graduated my BS in May and am working on my Masters now...I encourage you to keep going! You are on a roll, don't stop. Besides...as long as you are in, you have TA waiting for you...might as well us it!

Something that I have recently come across on the Navy Knowledge Online (NKO) was the NAVY COOL. After doing some research, I found that all the branches (with the exception of the Coast Guard) has a collection of certifications based on your rate or MOS. All branches have a way to reimburse the members expense in order obtain these certifications.

I have always pushed the importance of an education to all members, however, some don't feel as if they are "college material." The COOL program is another opportunity to share to your members who are interested in pursuing something other than a college degree.

I plan to finish what I need for my Associates in Meteorology through the CCAF. I have no intentions of working in a weather field once my enlistment is up though. My plan is to work in law enforcement and most agencies require any two year degree (or a certain amount of credit hours which I technically already have). Just figure if they don't specify that they want a CJ degree then I may as well finish the one I already have credit toward rather than start over.
