I had a Lot of problems adapting to civilian life. I asked my father: "What is important in life?" He responded with: "A lot of things are automatic."

SPC Margaret Higgins I did and I am still going through it, I did 25 years and 3 days in the Army. Its a process, you just can't dump it over night. With 6 combat tours I am going to the VA for counseling and its ongoing. Life goes on, but the military will always be with me until the end of time. Too Sweet of memories to let go!

I joined just turning 18 so getting out after 4 years I thought would be easy but it seems more engraved in my than I thought. Especially since I dip and dap doing reserve duty. The full lifestyle seems you can never just dump though. Its so much a part of you that you just have to learn to live. I think more awareness of these type of problems and counseling at this point is all we can really do and ask for because no matter where we are we must live/survive regardless.
