To do otherwise will result in at least 4 years of self-inflicted misery criticizing every action or inaction regardless. SP5 Mark Kuzinski I am very hopeful that after 8 years of President Obama's drive to take us to be more dependent on the Federal government, President Donald Trump will roll back much of regulations which have stymied growth. From what I have seen of his selections for cabinet positions I expect
(1) the energy policy will be reformed to focus on oil, natural gas, hydroelectric, nuclear and clean coal with solar and wind energy producers having minimal to no government subsidies.
(2) coherent and consistent foreign and national security policy which guides the priorities of how the Department of State and DoD operate OCONUS.
(3) revitalized DHS which really does protect us from illegal entry into this nation of people, material, and anything else.
(4) All citizens will benefit. No more divisive rhetoric pitting rioters and against police; blacks and against white, etc.
(5) Freedom of speech, religion and assembly will be honored to a greater degree.
(6) Conservative judges will be nominated and appointed to the SCOTUS and the Federal courts to fill vacancies with people who consider the constitution to be a valid document as it is not a living breathing document that produces penumbral rights ....

I am hopeful but also recognize there will no honeymoon for him as president. The media and the left (one in the same) will be after him from day 1. My hope is that he steamrolls them as Obama did to the GOP when he arrives (elections have consequences was the line du jour). We need a rapid infusion of sanity in foreign policy and all matters of economics and job creation. He is saying the right things and appointing the right people.

I have a lot of hope for this administration. The people he's picking are of the mindset that we can do better. We HAVE to do better!

The media won't give him an inch, so what gets done will have to be done right. Even then, it won't be seen as a positive by the left. They are about control.

The media has been controlling politicians for years. Now we have a President who answers to the people, not the media, and they are lost.

My biggest hope is that maybe, just maybe, he can bring some accountability to the political elites.

Call me jaded, but after seeing so many new administrations while in the military and since, I have little hope for the average GI. Campaign promises have little chance of being kept and realistically how much impact does a sitting president have on day to day military operations? Sure they can put us in or take us out of war but what more of their policy really impacts what you do in the military?

Of course I'm hopeful. To me it tells me that the American public is wising up to the ineffective leaders in Washington. When Hillary's crimes were coming out repeatedly and people were still supportive of her because "she's a woman", I thought we were well past the time of common sense and moving ever closer to Idiocracy.

People have said the same thing about a Trump Presidency, but what people forget is that the Office of President is pretty much open to any citizen in this Country. With Trump's choice of cabinet members it appears that the adults will finally be in charge again. Also, Trump's inclusion of former detractors shows magnanimity that he hadn't shown before, and this gives me hope for his administration as well. While he certainly was not my first choice in the Primaries, his recent performance has been very encouraging.

And he beats the hell out of the alternative, Hillary.

How can we not be? Whether we voted for him or not, it is foolish to hope he fails, because if he fails we all pay the price. I'm most concerned about domestic economics and for national security the potential for reinstating the draft. After the post-Desert Storm reductions if we were to be faced with 2 high intensity conflicts (HIC) we are spread too thin already to cover that. Even the smartest systems and weapons need operators. We demonstrated overwhelming tech superiority in the M. East but multi-theater calls for more trigger pullers.

I am. I have always seen Donald Trump as crass, brutish and bullish, but above all he seems to have so much passion and emotion vested in the legacy of this country. There is certainly an argument for his entire "Make America Great Again" motto, when you consider how apologetic and afraid to offend the image of this country is becoming. On top of that, he is surrounding himself with experts. Everyone knows that he plans to appoint General Mattis as SECDEF, who in my opinion is the best military leader this country has seen since Chesty. He understands War in ways that I don't believe anyone else does. Last I heard Trump had offered a job to Elon Musk; one of the most successful entrepreneurs and most visionary individuals of our time. Trump knows what he knows (the meeting with Boeing today that resulted in the agreement to make the new Air Force One at a vastly decreased price proves this) and he is building a team that will cover all of his bases. I am hopeful, optimistic and even a little excited to see how this government can succeed going forward.

After the last eight years of Hope and Change being Hopeless and Despair I have extreme hopes that he can pull the Congress' collective head from its ass and make some progress. The runaway spending must stop. Obamacare has to be repealed or at a minimum, revamped to a point where is could work.

The size of the Federal government must be scaled back and you do it with immediate 15% reduction in work force. Those furloughed will be temporarily reassigned to the VA to PROPERLY alleviate the claims backlog that exists. Health care at the VA and care of all Veterans must be improved. Veterans must be priority one on the hiring list PERIOD!

ALL veterans must have a place to live. We cannot bring in thousands upon thousands of refugees and give them everything so long as one veteran is homeless. I propose all unused/vacant base housing on ANY current or former military installation be used to house homeless veterans and their families FIRST!

We must inaugurate Mr. Trump in three weeks and hold him to his promises.

And until WE THE PEOPLE come together with love and compassion and understanding no one man can heal this nation...only we as one body can do that. He certainly is positive in his thoughts and demeanor. He deserves the chance to change things for the better. The DC political quagmire will be a challenge. Key Republican senators on the Senate Armed Service Committee voted to decrease military benefits last year. This group included Jeff Sessions. Paul Ryan was willing to reduce the COLA for military retirees under the age of 65 by 1%. This would have resulted in thousands of $$$ in lost income to military retirees in that group. Of course the blow back was forceful and it didn't happened but this is the climate that Trump will have to deal with. I hope he is successful and we can 'right' our ship to less troubled waters not only for our military but the entire population.

This is going to be an interesting 4 years. Depending if he manages to put his big boy pants on, and manages to pull the huge head out of a certain orifice, stops tweeting like a moron, and takes the job serious, then yes, but I really don't see this happening, so he is a clown in my eyes.

Due to my consulting work, I had limited personal and first-hand experience with President Trump over a period of several years. Based upon this, I found his personal character and leadership to be most impressive. However, when he was-out-and-about in NYC, I noticed that he was usually surrounded by "Blue-Collar-Workers". During a lunch in Charlottesville, VA a few years ago, Eric Trump said that his father enjoyed being on construction sites more than being in his office, spending large amounts of time among the tradesmen, which might possibly explain how President Trump is perceived by rest of the country.

I did not support Trump during the primaries. I felt he was a demagogue looking to exploit the anger and frustration of people who were enraged at seeing their country humiliated by the political party in power. I looked at his past record of support on issues and found that he had changed sides when he was younger. He is no politician. His business acumen will work well as POTUS however, some of that will not work. Grow a tough hide and learn to be truly diplomatic. Fighting every battle with the media or with whatever opposition, will only show him to be a petty and vain leader. Insults never succeed, especially on the world stage. Even if the other started it and continues to hurl insults, responding with you own only brings you down to their level.
He will make mistakes in his first few years as POTUS. Will he try to accomplish too much in his 1st two years in office or will he take a slower approach and look for long-term solutions? My own view is one off guarded optimism. There are so many things wrong with this country, it will take some time to correct them. It took Reagan about 6 years to see the results of his efforts and payoff occurred in 1992 when the USSR passed into history.

The first 4 days of the POTUS-T administration has been a disaster of credibility. The man has been caught in so many "alternate truths" that it's terrifying. Let me be clear, President Trump LIES; frequently, impulsively, for no apparent reason & with video/audio tape from MULTIPLE sources proving he's lying. I am retired military & I'm glad for many reasons. However, the biggest reason has come over the past 4 days, because I'd have a difficult time following orders from my CIC when I know HE LIES! This isn't political, and it's certainly not funny. The CIC must present himself to the world as a calm, organized, truthful, trust worthy person. 4 days & that's already been shot to hell!

let's face it - everybody across the country has been thinking the same thing about government for many years now - "It has to change" - whether you liked who was in office or not this much is true, it is time for a change - scary thing - change can sometimes be violent and chaotic - but something must change - move for term limits on Congress and Senate - get rid of the 30-40-50 years of service in the Congress-Senate; the president is a 4 year term for a reason and a limit of 2 terms for a reason - Congress - Senate = 10 years and your out - like it or not. Am I hopeful regarding Trumps presidency - yes - but I am hopeful of the presidency regardless of who is in office, I have become less hopeful of Congress-Senate since they seem more interested in keeping their positions than working to better the nation.
