The National Center for Veterans Studies, alongside the University of Utah and Wesleyan University, are seeking military couples to participate in an online study about mental health care, communication and suicide risk. You can access the brief 2-minute screener to see if you’re eligible by going to our website.

"Help Us Improve Mental Health Care For Those In The Military". I'm so tired of hearing this. After 36 total years of service, 21 AD, 15 Reserve/National Guard time, I immediately entered college under the Post 9-11 GI Bill. I received my Masters Degree in Human Developmental Counseling, all with the intention of helping my brothers and sisters in and out of uniform. I tested and received my counseling license, am Nationally Certified. I applied to the VA a couple of times and never got hired. All I hear is that they are hurting for counselors for veterans, yet here I sit. I am not some 23 year old kid with no life experience, or no military experience. I've been around for quite some time and can easily relate. So I eventually gave up on it. It's such a shame, because I wasn't doing this as a career, I did it SOLELY because it's where my heart was. So yeah, a lot of this crap is lip service. I never even got an interview, and in my undergrad I graduated with a 3.94/4.0 - Summa Cum Laude, and graduated from U of I with my MA with a 3.88/4.0 GPA.

Thank you for sharing. I hope the survey is still active so we can give you some answers. Btw, could we see any results of the survey? You know, you made me remember a story of my grandparents. My grandmother had been waiting for her husband for about 5 years before he came back. I know this story is not unique, but I can’t imagine how people can wait for so long. I also wonder if they got any Mental Health Support. Still, I think that the day they met was one of the best days of their lives. Share your stories, guys. https://enlightenmh.org
