Are you paranoid if you keep a spare tire in your car?
Are you paranoid if you keep a fire extinguisher in your kitchen? Or fire alarms in your house?
What about a knife or a leatherman in your pocket? What about a credit card for emergency purchases?
It's just a different tool for a different kind of emergency.

CW3 (Join to see) - That's actually a good point. In Washington I found not a lot of civilians were very gun happy, so to speak, but they didn't seem to bothered by it. However, in Texas people carried everywhere and were darn proud to show you what they had! I guess the cultures surrounding guns really do vary from place to place in the US.
Also, I will add that going on base does impact your ability to carry. A lot of times, even though I normally conceal carry, I don't because there is a possibility I want to go on base for something and this simply isn't possible due to their restriction on guns if I'm carrying.

Love it. 1911's are bit too big for me for carry. I generally go with a Glock 30S and if wearing something professional I tend to wear Sig P238 (looks like a micro 1911). I have others but those are my faves. I admittedly have worn the Sig as a BUG just to see if I can do so comfortably. So I can't judge.

I just figure I would prefer to have a gun and pray I don't need it than not have a gun and pray that I don't need it....
