I recently attended a meeting with Veteran Groups present. During the meeting a couple individuals starting ranting and complaining. Complaining about the VA, the City, and on and on about how nothing is being done for Veterans and it continued.

I sat there and I thought to myself instead of complaining, why not look at what is already being done for Veterans. NO B.M.W. If there is a gap then come up with a solution instead of pointing the finger at everyone else to get it done.

One individual spoke and said how his group visits homeless Veteran shelter and asked the individuals "Has your group visited the shelters?".

After the meeting the complainers asked me why younger veterans not joining their group, I didn't give my actual thoughts. I wanted to say I don't like being around negative people or someone that complains all the time.

What did I learn? If I complain or bring up an issue, have a solution. Don't act like a critical parent. Be ready to take on the issue or problem myself and not expect everyone else to take up the cause and ask myself if I am being the negative person in the room.

So are you part of the solution?????Tue, 29 Apr 2014 11:57:26 -0400Are you part of the solution or are you the problem?

Great points.

Great leaders always say, bring a couple of solutions along with problems you find.

Veteran organizations need to do that.

I see lots of Veteran groups missing out on younger Vets because they are focusing on their age group needs vs. all age group needs.MAJ Steve SheridanTue, 29 Apr 2014 13:05:12 -04002014-04-29T13:05:12-04:002014-04-29T11:57:26-04:00
