SSG Jale Landaverde was "picked up" to be one of the first female drill sergeants in the male dominated infantry. She is ready to perform her duties as a drill sergeant in this assignment at Ft. Benning beginning in January. (The picture posted is not her.)

I think you have to add some context to this. I don't believe she will be an Drill Sergeant for Infantrymen. She would have to be infantry to do that. Fort Benning also houses some non combat arms basic training. So she would most likely end up in one of those units. But if you could show me where she will be in Infantry DS I would appreciate it.

What I don't understand is how can she be an Infantry DS when she is not MOS qualified to do so? Would you want me to teach at the JAG BOLC. I just don't thing it would be beneficial. Could you tell someone what is it to be in an infantry unit if you never been in one?

TRADOC will not allow you to teach a program that you haven't gone through before. She will have to either go thru infantry training or just be another Drill at Benning for non-grunts.

S**t, What took so long? I still Remember A-School in 76 the most Pull-Ups I've seen done was by a Female Marine. My first Posting the Meanest Most Obnoxious Person on CINCPACFLT Staff was a Female Quartermaster in Briefing that smoked a Pipe. My first posting following making E-6 was effectively Aide de Camp to Maggie Turner the First Female African-American Capt (O-6) in the Navy Computer/Telecommunications Field. Hell most my Superiors in DC were Females.

Don't see any reason not to have them. I'm kind of surprised that there are none now. Just reviewed the qualifications and there is nothing that I can see that would indicate a preference of male over female. Could be a matter of numbers, approximately 74,000 total of which 1 of 5 is officers, leaving a pool of about 60,000 to choose from and how many are of sufficient rank to get the job of that 60,000? I imagine the competition is pretty intense.

I just wonder, since she hasn't been infantry or even infantry school - then how.. I guess I just give up. it really doesn't make sense to me.

I don't care what others say on this-DS's in OSUT environments should be subject matter experts on their given field...no way in hell is someone fresh into the MOS can be ready to train others in something like this. Infantry tactics are something that is done to the point of muscle memory-that trainer needs to know every aspect of what he or she is training in order to be fully effective. I wish her the best-but honestly I feel she is just going to be a metric for the command and a barrier for those she is to train. Give it another 6-10 years before making combat arms female DS's-the services don't have any that are experienced enough or doctrinally ready.

Sure hope that she isn't teaching infantryman, as the repeal on females in combat arms hasn't happened yet. These young men need subject matter experts, not an experiment.

I think it is a change that has been in the works for some time & with all MOS's having Infinery basics she will be fine. Ladies have passed Sapped leaders course, now Rangers, why not the too.

Do people think this shit is a fucking game? Sorry my language isn't polished, neat, and clean. I'm just sick of people thinking that combat is this nice little thing that anyone can partake in and excel in. That's not the case. If you want to send women into combat, or have our infantrymen trained by unqualified DS's in the name of progress, you better deploy our fighters with a few extra fucking body bags. If you are willing to champion for the cause of unqualified trainers and women in the infantry, then you had better be willing to sack the fuck up and join them in the shit. Go throw some lead in combat instead of throwing your soft dick, know nothing comments into the fray about something you have no first hand knowledge about. War ain't a god damned tickle fight

Well in case you missed it. Today in the cover of AT, Vice-president Biden is quoted as saying he backs "Transgenders" to join the AVA. So the next question will probably be; Are you ready for the first "Transgender" Drill Sargent? It's the "logical" evolution of the Slippery Slope aka, the Corruptions and Perversions of the Career Politicians and the Political careerists.
