Are you required to repay your disability pay if you rejoin the military?

I am currently in the process of rejoining and have a 30% rating that I am in the process of getting recended. I had a recruiter tell me that I would have to repay the roughly $10,000 I received over two years from the VA for my disability. He wasn't for sure if I had to pay it back, but he though I did. However, my father is active duty and he reached out to some senior enlisted in recruited and they also have him uncertain answers. Can anyone help me with this? I have read alot of things about waiving your pay while back on active, but I am unsure.

1. The Military is not responsible for your disability pay, only the VA. 2. You will have to contact the VA to get their ruling on this.

So, I will ask the question. Were you actually disabled and were miraculously cured or were you not disabled and taking money you should not have been taking? Seems to me that if you had a disability of 30% and accepted payments for it for two years and are now better, you were likely never actually disabled. The honorable thing to do is to pay back the money if you were never actually disabled. I am surprised (not really) that they would consider taking you back into the Navy.

Disability from the VA does not preclude service. Without knowing this service member's history, you are throwing around groundless accusations. He may be joining in a job that he can still serve 100% because of different job requirements from his last position or his disabilities may not directly effect his work, i.e. loss of hearing. PO3 (Join to see) asked about paying back disability payments. He did not asked to have his integrity questioned.

Cpl Jeff N. Easy there partner.. ..The VA can issue 30% for rated issues upon discharge that are not even a disqualify to service.
2nd, issues that are rated as percentages at discharge can easily be addressed during an interim period outside of the military and no longer be a concern...or simply heal them self's after years away from the stress and causation of that "disability"
