<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>If you were injured including by disease while in military service especially in combat, ensure you have copies of your medical records [preferably paper and digitized]. I recommend contacting the VFW, DAV or one of the other veterans organizations and ask them to assist you submit a packet for disability rating/compensation to the Department of Veterans Affairs. When I left the military in 2008 the recommendation was to contact the VA [and begin your post military career search in earnest] 6 months out.
