Are you or were you a member of the 26th Infantry Regiment?

The Blue Spaders have a long and glorious military history.
In Vietnam the Spaders served longer than any other 1st Inf Division Regiment and garnered eleven battle streamers, a Valorous Unit Award and two foreign awards for its colors.

I served with HHC 1-26th in 1968

The 26th Infantry Regiment is a regiment of the United States Army. Its nickname is "Blue Spaders", taken from the spade-like device on the regiment's distinctive unit insignia. The 26th Infantry Regiment is part of the U.S. Army Regimental System; currently only the 1st Battalion is active and assigned to the 2d Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).

I servered with the Blue Spaders from Sept 1966 to Sept 1967, "C" Co 1st Bn 26th Inf. !st Inf Div. in Viet Nam as Company Comm Chief. My Co Commander was Capt Jim Madden, one of the finest men I ever knew. My last Co was Capt. Brian Cunduff. I also served with the 3rd Inf Div, the 4th Inf Div and 5th Inf Div's, but the 1st will always be my home. If there are any members from that era I'd like to hear from you.

2001-2003, C 1/26inf out of Schweinfurt Germany. Good deployment to Kosovo under EXCELLENT direct leadership (SGT-SSGT F.P. Watson & SFC B. Frey), but that's about as far up as the competency went. My own personal belief is that is the reason for the many many issues and losses that future Blue Spaders faced in future engagements. What could have been an excellent unit that lived up to and beyond it's past glory was severely hamstrung by self-serving and incompetent higher-ups that cost the lives and reputations of some great men.
