I couldn't count how many times Soldiers came in and closed the door to talk to me. Everyone knew when my door was open, I was free game.

"What's up and be brief please" was my standard line as I was multi-tasking and doing ATRRS or whatever while they talked.

I always followed up with the respective NCO's of the Soldier and did the best I could. I may not go to Heaven but I'll damn sure die with a clear conscience.

Funniest thing was a certain EO NCO. She was run ragged. She frequently came in, closed the door and told me the most sexist and dirtiest jokes imaginable. We quietly laughed for a moment and she would just walk out with her stone face. It was her way of relieving stress. TOP notch NCO, but sometimes you gotta let loose. It doesn't happen as much now but for the longest time I had former Soldiers of mine that called me long after I had left a unit seeking advice and or help. It was reassuring that I had done my job well by them.
