I am a big fan of rewarding deserving Soldiers for going above and beyond in there respective services. My question here is what is the most amount of AAMs you have seen a person wear?
My first Platoon Sergeant had been awarded 15 Army Achievement Medals in his 21 years of service. I thought that was a lot but then we had a First Sergeant on my last deployment who had 19.
How does one get 19 Army Achievement Medals? That is like one per year. I know these to be true because I saw both their ERBs and they both wore them on there Class A jackets. Maybe I am just behind the times seeing as how I only have 5 with 11 years of service.
Anyone else seen more than 19?

I have one in 13 years.
I've come to find that a lot of units don't want to recognize Soldiers for their actions, and that's sad.
A PFC of mine just received an AAM yesterday that I put him in for. It is an IMPACT award. When I submitted it, I was told to "save it for his PCS award." I fought back and it went through. He deserved it and I will continue to submit awards for my Soldiers when they do go above and beyond.

I can't stand the 'save it for a PCS award' rhetoric. Most lower enlisted get an AAM for doing their job when they PCS. If they've gone above & beyond at some point, they've earned that award. PCS awards are for their performance throughout a tour/duty station - not necessarily impact. I always fight that one- often lose, but it's still far too much of a battle to get junior enlisted proper recognition.

I have yet to be awarded any medals for anything I have done so far for my unit and the army alike. (Lol). I've watched people who do minimal things and are handed everything under the sun. However, I continue to be me and do the right thing. If I should ever be awarded one cool. Coins, well haven't got one of those either. (Lol).

13 total in 25 years...I once received an AAM because I was sick of an (OPFOR) very loud F-16 diving at me while sitting in vehicle...so I stick my M-16 with blank adapter on and fired a burst at it. Sametime an OC rolls by and stops...think my PFC butt is heap of trouble...ask for my name and unit...says I just earned an impact AAM for shoot down of enemy aircraft... still rolling my eyes to this day.

1 in 6 years. Unit doesn't recommend anybody for anything. 2LT got a AAM for being a range officer for a day

Most I ever saw on a Soldier was during an inspection, I gig'ed him for having two AAM ribbons, only to discover later that when you have ten awards, due to there being a limit on devices worn on a ribbon (4), you are actually supposed to wear a second ribbon - two ribbons + silver OLC + 3 bronze OLCs = 10 awards.
I had to eat crow.
I hope that never happens to me.

Soo....when you hit 11, you go back to 1 ribbon (ribbon + 2 silver OLC)? Great story about a quirky detail in the reg! thanks for sharing!

Yes sir LTC (Join to see). I suppose at 14, you'd need the second ribbon again, then it would have an Oak Leaf Cluster on the second ribbon for 15, then back to one ribbon again at 16.

Don't feel so bad Top. I once got ripped a new one for wearing the long sleeve shirt and tie for a Class B inspection back in the day. I had this bad rash that when exposed to the sun became more red and itchy. Since the training schedule did not specify what version of the Class B, nor did anyone in my support channel or CoC, said otherwise, I went with that to protect my arms.
When my PSG called me in for my counseling statement I explained, He pulled out the reg and lo and behold, 1SG x 1, SFC x 1, SSG x 1 were not aware but the lowly SPC was. That said, I was told "I should have known better" or words to that effect. When he didn't add the verbiage that I was in a Class B uniform IAW 670-1, the TNG Schedule and I had a clearly observable medical condition that was literally the first time I lined out concur and circled nonconcur, initialed, signed and dated.
