Don't leave your ethics at the office! Three Soldiers' unethical online behavior caused three investigations to be launched. Military culture and our interface with the public are only improved by taking our shared values into the public sphere.

Ethics and related behavior are a 24/7 part of this job. SNCOs do not have the luxury of preaching one thing, then letting an uncorrected infraction go by. If you're going to talk the talk, walk the walk.

I agree, 1SG Michael Blount, but doesn't that impose some stringent duties for SNCOs on RallyPoint? If publicly stated opinions contradict Army Regulations, policy, Values, or ethos, who has a duty to do something about it? SNCOs? Officers?

LTC (Join to see) - in the absence of anything else, sir, I think we police ourselves. As far as I know, it's worked well so far

LTC (Join to see) - While I was at Ft Eustis (sp?) a few months ago, I saw a couple Soldiers outside the PX engaged in behavior inconsistent with their Second General Order. Apparently, they thought the PX was some sort of safe zone where they could act foolish. Oh, and they forgot to give me the greeting of the day, too. I submit if I can correct that sort of behavior, grown adults on RP can curb theirs. If not, I'm sure the Administrators/Moderators can address the problem.

Speechless. Very well said and put together. Plan on forwarding to my readiness NCO to put out to the rest of our Company for Soldiers to read this.

I don't think the government should be wasting their time actively monitoring social media, but when complaints arise, they should be investigated. What you do off duty and out of uniform still is a reflection on you, your professionalism, and the branch of service you represent.
