Army Green To Gold Program. Who has done it and was it the best way to go? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/army-green-to-gold-program-who-has-done-it-and-was-it-the-best-way-to-go

I am wondering because I am in the process of going Green to Gold. I have to wait until next year because I am deployed and in September they changed the deadline from April 1st to February 1st and we were not scheduled to get back in country until after Feb. 1st.

I have 3 years college under my belt 107 credits and my major is International Business. Going Green to Gold seemed like a really good choice due to my wife also being military and us being able to stay together, I would still get Active Duty pay, I can use my Mont. GI bill, and of course get commissioned in two years!

I want to know people who have done Green to Gold's experience and if it made things easier or more difficult going this way rather then doing college while being in the Army and going OCS or getting out and going to school then getting back in as an officer.
Thu, 06 Feb 2014 16:44:51 -0500 Army Green To Gold Program. The program requires that you take 21-24 months to finish your degree with out counting summer classes. You attend Leadership Development & Assessment Course (LDAC) between the summer of your Junior and Senior years and any other specialty training would also be during the summer so they will want you to keep your summers open.

Just contact your schools Retention Operations Officer and or Professor of Military Science and they can help you complete the process. You will also need their assistance for some of the memos and forms so work closely with them and the schools academic advisors. You can get all of the information and complete the application process on-line at http://www.goarmy.com

I also chose Green to Gold to take advantage of the time off with my family. Our ROTC program was not too demanding of my time so I definitely think it is a worth while option for commissioning.

Send me a message if you need more information.
