Army National Guard denied my tattoo waiver, can i try for a tattoo waiver with the Army Reserves?

I recently spent 3 months waiting for a tattoo waiver for Army National Guard. I have a 1in X 1in tattoo behind my left ear. I just found out i that my waiver was denied. I was just wandering if i could do another waiver with the army reserves? Would i have a better chance of approval or is it the same pipeline that denied me? If i don't have the option to try another waiver with the reserves, are there any other branches that i may have a chance of getting a waiver?

It's all the same governing regulation. AR670-1 Para 3-2 and 3-3. Active Duty, Reserve, or ARNG.
Your best bet is to go see the recruiter for another service and ask. Head and neck tattoos are tough to waive as they are visible in uniform.

I have seen many actively serving individuals with tattoos behind the ear, and unless it violates 670-1 as vulgar, racist, or can be perceived as such, it shouldn't have been an issue.

Chantel Gotwalt - regardless of the denial, the process is still the same. Its likely that they denied the waiver because there is currently not a shortage of qualified applicants that do not require a waiver. You may just have to give it some time, unless it is a permanent disqualification.

SSG (Join to see) - are the folks with behind the ear tattoos hold overs from the waiver days during the surge? The track record for tattoo waivers has been pretty tightly managed.

Within the last year a new update came out to where tattoos in locations such as where you indicated could be reviewed and potentially waived. Of course this is new because anything above the wrist line or the neck line would have been as absolute disqualifier. It is possible though. Try the army Reserve just make sure you bring it up on the first appointment to let your recruiter do his or her research on the update.
