I advocate making learning an actual experience, I always disliked it when I was attending an NCOES and everyone's attitude was that of just "checking the block". I need the points, I need this to get promoted, etc. The purpose of training is education. The point is to send these Soldiers, NCOs, and Officers back to their units better then when they left, ready to apply what they have learned.

I can't tell you how many times I have heard a Soldier say "I didn't learn anything in WLC" or a Captain say "I didn't learn anything in CCC" or "Captain's Career Course didn't teach me to be a successful Company Commander".

I think PME should be a small break from your duties, time to develop relationships with your peers, and a time to learn about your profession. Maybe a better screening of the instructors would help? Make it an interview process like when someone applies to be a 1SG or Commander. Don't let the assignments branch look at a bunch of NCOER/OERs and make an educated guess.....
Response by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 29 at 2013 3:40 PM 2013-10-29T15:40:40-04:00 2013-10-29T15:40:40-04:00 SFC James Baber 25984

Good article for new concept that I think will be beneficial once the bugs are worked out, I do think further testing should be done before full implementation is made across the board for all schooling.

I also agree with the LT on the needed interview process of the instructors and leaders for the arenas they will be engaged in.
Response by SFC James Baber made Dec 22 at 2013 6:01 PM 2013-12-22T18:01:47-05:00 2013-12-22T18:01:47-05:00 SFC Michael Hasbun 25995

I'm giving a class on it tomorrow for instructors at the Ordnance school, you all are invited! Sill with the FA and ADA AITs, we uses ALM 2015. To many people this is considered to be limited to homework and some jeopardy
style systems. This implementation is not always the best. When used correctly it actually makes more sense for it to be in NCOES utilizing techniques such as guided discussions and things different from just pure lectures. With AIT, it becomes a little more difficult in that it is not always easy to guide a discussion on topics that are technical or with Soldiers who have no experience on the systems.

I am a firm believer in ALM 2015 when it is done right and is not used to check a block. The method
has proven to be rather successful in my training of new troops and when I went to ALC recently.
Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 14 at 2014 7:25 AM 2014-03-14T07:25:55-04:00 2014-03-14T07:25:55-04:00 SFC David Reid, M.S, PHR, SHRM-CP, DTM 4880894

Yes, it is Response by SFC David Reid, M.S, PHR, SHRM-CP, DTM made Aug 4 at 2019 4:40 PM 2019-08-04T16:40:52-04:00 2019-08-04T16:40:52-04:00 2013-10-29T15:15:04-04:00
