SPC Private RallyPoint Member 4063644 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Quick question. I go on IRR in March 2020, my unit is being evaluated next AT for a 2020 deployment. What does that look like for me since I&#39;m supposed to &quot;be done&quot; in March unless I voluntarily extend my contract? 2020 would be my sixth year. Army reserve deployment in 2020 but IRR coming up? 2018-10-21T18:20:38-04:00 SPC Private RallyPoint Member 4063644 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Quick question. IRR is coming because you chose that route prior to your EOS, or you&#39;re doing nothing to stop it from taking place. Are you in or out? Read the fine print. If I were in your shoes with current events I&#39;d feel safer serving in a unit with people I knew better than taking my chances on a call up from IRR Response by LTC John Mohor made Oct 21 at 2018 9:10 PM 2018-10-21T21:10:35-04:00 2018-10-21T21:10:35-04:00 SSG Diane R. 4064072 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I was in the IRR, and called up for ODS in 1991. I had an MOS in transition and an unusual skill set.<br /><br />The unit I was sent to did not really want me, or know what to do with me, and there were awkward moments for everyone. You&#39;ll be eligible for IRR call, but that doesn&#39;t mean you will get called, and if you are there&#39;s no guarantee it will be with your current unit or to augment someone else. An Eval is not a call up. It is an inspection of readiness and nothing more. Should your unit be called up prior to your IRR going into effect, depending on mission, mission readiness and needs of the Army and Unit you may deploy with them. You signed an 8 year contract, which means that they have you for that 8 years whether you are RA, Reserve or IRR. Upon your unit being re-deployed back stateside then you will be released to go back to IRR.
