How much more ridiculous can this stuff get. The top prosecutor accused of assault by one of his subordinates in a hotel room at a sexual assault conference. You can't even make this stuff up. I have no doubt we will lose all control over any SHARP related prosecution/authority.

I once read a story about a woman in Pakistan who had been raped and went to the hospital to see a doctor. The doctor in turn raped her. She couldn't report it to the police because they would have imprisoned her. The story was intended to shed light on the horrific situation women faced in that part of the world.

It's shocking and devastating but this type of vicious cycle is not THAT far from home. We just have to keep fighting the good fight.

I hate to say this, but I think the military needs to lose the authority to punish these people. This might be the only way that we can extinguish the fire from the ignition point. Start prosecuting them like any other criminal and just boot them with a dishonorable. Make it so they can't be forcibly retired. Strip them of what they earned because they never deserved to be in the service in the first place. These people deserve nothing. There is NO EXCUSE for what they do. If they make the punishment severe maybe than and only then will it be a deterrent.

Edited for me to add this because this issue fires me up. I just think it's ridiculous. How much SHARP training do I need because I am a good Soldier.? Obviously everyone of these people committing these crimes (not UCMJ infractions) has been through this training to and the problem is not decreasing. At some point we have to quit coddling the subject like we owe him/her something. The people we owe are the victims and to see these dirt bags just transferred units or allowed to retire so we don't hurt their feelings just re victimizes the victim. Please for the love of all that is holy, start processing these people in the criminal court system, send them to jail, kick them out no benefits and I think we will quickly see a down turn in the problem we face.

And for that person that says what about the Soldier's family? Obviously they didn't care about their family when they were out sexually assaulting someone else and they knew what they were risking. Let that criminal get what they have coming to them.

Although I agree with most of what has been said thus far, and, it is a shame that REAL assaults and harassment's occur all the time, I honestly feel bad for the EO and SHARP reps etc. I think they automatically have a target on their backs. I think people look at them like,"oh you think you're so high and mighty huh? Ill get your ass!!!" And people look for any and every thing they can to manipulate into a harassment or EO complaint. Disagree all that you may, but you can not tell me that some shady ass people do not do it. Is it a small number of people, yeah, but they have a pretty big target they are aiming for and they get some sort of satisfaction in "big game hunting" so to speak.

I don't get it. I am really speechless right now. I have never understood how people can stoop so low and assault another individual who clearly doesn't want it. I mean, when I was growing up, my father always told me that if I ever forced myself on a woman, he would cut my (you know what) off. I learned to respect women from an early age, but apparently that isn't the case for everyone else. What I really don't get is why these people think it's okay. Is it okay to rob someone at an ATM because you see they have money? I know that happens too, but these things go against the Army values. As professionals, we should live at a higher standard, not stoop lower. What is so hard about no means no, and keep your hands to yourself?
