In the recent ArmyTimes, there was an article on add pullups to the APFT. In the article it stated the benefits of the pullups and how it should either be added or replace the pushup event. Also in the article it had options from around the force of the pro's and con's of pullups and pushups. Of course there were other options about removing the situp and replacing it with crunches or even changing it all up to mirror the Marine Corp PT test along with other ideas on what to do.

Of course the revamp of the APFT is still in the works and no one really has an idea of whats going to happen or even when. I do hope they really look at the ranks for ideas and suggestions such as they did when revamping the IPFU. I believe that will get the best results and best APFT changes.

Any thoughts?

There has been many attempts to change the APFT over the past few years. Pull-ups in my opinion are far more useful then push-ups as in combat, you spend far less time pushing yourself up then you do pulling yourself up into vehicles, obstacles, etc.
