As a 92A, what place of duty/position/role is there to work from besides the motorpool and the SSA?

At my first duty I've spent nearly a equal amount of time at the motorpool and the SSA. After recently PCSing I'm at the motorpool again. What are some positions or place of duty within my unit (relating to logistics) I should look to expand into?

If you're looking for actual work relating to logistics...speak with your Commander to see if you can pull some hours every now and then working up at your BN S4.

I agree with MSG Livington, working with the S4 would broaden you. As a CPL I think you should not transition to the S4 as your life’s blood for now is unit level and you should strive o become an expert.

If you can keep a company level property book straight you will trump the value of many Sr NCO's in your unit to your company commander.

Eventually you want to get into planning, and a huge part of that is making sure the supplies are going to be there (right place, right time, right amounts) for the things being planned.

Right now, as an E4, your focus should be "tracking those things"

Mastering where you are is the primary mission of every Soldier. If you do not have your sights set on that then you are off mission. Yes, you should be looking at training for the next level but that is secondary to the mission and is a part of your continual MOS training that your squad leader should be incorporating within your career path counseling. If this is not happening then your monthly counseling is not being performed properly.

I was in the same predicament as you, but unfortunately there's not a lot of room for growth until you pin SGT and/or SSG. Twice I had orders to be assigned in the SPO section and was referred back to the unit level because of I wasn't SGT at the time and lacked in-depth knowledge of Z Park manager roles.
My advice, look at going warrant if logistics is truly imbedded in your mind. Could also try checking in with your counterpart PBO, 92Y and S4 on their day to day and look at going SFAB. SFAB is looking for the most diverse 92A/Y when I went through.

I was fortunate enough to be sent to Unit Armorer School and served as my Unit Armorer after graduating. That might be an option for you to ask about.
