The advice I always gave my younger folks was to always be prepared for your next promotion and grow where you're planted. If you have professional military education that you need in order to make your next rank, ensure that you get that accomplished first. Once that is finished it never hurts to take a few college-level courses and or possibly complete an associate's degree in the MOS that you're in, or one that you seek. You're looking to create a simple edge over the next person when it comes promotion time. Either of those two things could play a significant role in your next promotion and subsequently your career. Again one of your Army SNCOs and/or your SGM could probably give you better advice when it comes to your Army career move. Best of luck for a long, safe and distinguished career!
